ion Ventures, an International energy transition specialist with headquarters in London and OSCO Sdn Bhd, a local Bruneian enterprise, have signed a non-legally binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaborative opportunities within Brunei Darussalam’s growing renewable energy sector.

This partnership represents a significant step forward in the United Kingdom’s ongoing support for Brunei’s sustainable development and trade diversification. It underscores both nations’ shared commitment to advancing the energy transition and fostering innovation in clean energy technologies.

ion Ventures first engaged with Bruneian stakeholders during the inaugural UK-Brunei Trade Mission in November 2024, which brought together companies and government representatives to identify partnerships in energy, education, and digital sectors. The signing of this MoU marks a tangible outcome of that engagement and highlights the value of continued bilateral collaboration.

The UK remains committed to deepening trade and investment links with Brunei, particularly in sectors that promote long-term economic resilience and environmental sustainability. The British High Commission in Brunei will continue to support meaningful connections between UK expertise and Bruneian capabilities.

“This MoU is a testament to the strong and growing relationship between the United Kingdom and Brunei Darussalam,” said His Excellency Ken O’Flaherty, Acting British High Commissioner to Brunei. “We are proud to support Brunei’s energy transition and look forward to seeing UK technology and innovation contribute to Brunei’s sustainable development goals.”

Dan Taylor, Co-founder and Director of ion Ventures commented: “We are delighted to take this step forward with OSCO to explore renewable energy opportunities in Brunei. As an organisation focused on enabling the global transition to cleaner, more resilient energy systems, we see tremendous potential for collaboration in Brunei, a nation with strong ambition and growing momentum in sustainability.”

The British High Commission welcomes this collaboration as part of its broader efforts to promote green growth, economic diversification, and climate cooperation between the UK and Brunei.
